| A Resolution recognizing the talent of Amanda |
| LaMunyon; urging Oklahomans to be encouraged by her |
| story; and directing distribution. |
| |
| |
| |
| |
| WHEREAS, Amanda LaMunyon is a nationally recognized individual |
|from Enid, Oklahoma, known for her artistic talent and her inspiring |
|story; and |
| |
| WHEREAS, at an early age it was recognized that Amanda was not |
|an average child; and |
| |
| WHEREAS, Amanda, at age seven began to amaze those who knew her |
|with her special talent of painting her impressions of the songs she |
|loved to sing; and |
| |
| WHEREAS, Amanda's special talent has continued to flourish and |
|has expanded to singing and public speaking; and |
| |
| WHEREAS, Amanda has used her special talents to raise money for |
|numerous charities including the Children's Miracle Network, Relay |
|for Life and the Children's Medical Research Institute in Oklahoma; |
|and |

| WHEREAS, Amanda, at the ripe old age of thirteen has personally |
|presented her art work to President George W. Bush, painted the |
|cover for a book, spoken at the United Nations, and been the subject |
|of numerous articles that have appeared in newspapers, magazines, |
|books and on television; and |
| |
| WHEREAS, Amanda often reminds her audiences that God gave |
|everyone a gift, a special talent; and |
| |
| WHEREAS, Amanda was recognized in 2005 as one of Oklahoma's |
|"Five Most Talented Kids"; and |
| |
| WHEREAS, Amanda was recognized nationally in 2006 as the |
|National American Miss Volunteer Service Award recipient; and |
| |
| WHEREAS, Amanda was recognized nationally in 2007 as the |
|National American Miss Spokesmodel Award Recipient; and |
| |
| WHEREAS, Amanda was recognized nationally in 2008 as the |
|Outstanding Individual with Autism by the Autism Society of America. |
| |
| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE 1ST SESSION |
|OF THE 52ND OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE: |
| |
| THAT the Oklahoma State Senate recognizes the special talent and |
|ability that God has given to Amanda LaMunyon. |
| |
| THAT the Oklahoma State Senate congratulates Amanda LaMunyon on |
|the recognition that she has received. |
| |
| THAT the Oklahoma State Senate urges all Oklahomans to be |
|encouraged and inspired by Amanda LaMunyon's story of overcoming |
|obstacles to make use of the God-given talent that each of us has |
|been given. |
| THAT a copy of this resolution be distributed to the President |
|of the United States, the Governor of the State of Oklahoma, and to |
|Amanda LaMunyon of Enid, Oklahoma. |
